At the start of our night trip we will drive to reach the Stone Pyramid - Obelisk. This famous Napoleon monument was erected in 1808 AD, honouring Napoleon's Marshal Marmont who was in charge of the development of this area. The stone used to build the monument comes from the nearby island of Brač. We will climb to 780 m above sea level, on Veliko Brdo located above Makarska. The place was first mentioned in 1571 AD, as well as other places on the Makarska coast, due to the victory of the Christian army against the Turks near Lepanto. Interestingly, the church of St. Michael in Žlib, which is also part of our trip, is mentioned even 400 years ago in the report of Osman-aga`s inspector. Further, our adventure leads to Bast, a small place that dates back to ancient times when it was called Biston. The whole trip is enriched by a beautiful panoramic view of the Adriatic Sea, the towns of Makarska Riviera, the city of Split, the islands of Brac, Hvar, Korcula and the Peljesac peninsula. With a little luck and nice weather we will see neighboring Italy. Excursion Biokovo villages is full of historical sights that you will experience in their original attire. Worth emphasizing is the church of St. Roch from the 15th century, the Church of the Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary from 1636 AD and tombstones of Illyrian dukes called Tumule. The latter tombstones are a common feature of the Iron Age, in which specially selected honorary members of the then communities were buried. In addition to cultural sights along the way, you will meet the diverse flora and fauna of this original and distinctive Mediterranean area. Although at first glance the mountain Biokovo seems bare, this is certainly not the case. Numerous animal species were found on the magnificent Biokovo. These include 87 species of insect beetles, 221 species of butterflies, rare species of birds (e.g. golden eagle), rabbits, wolves, foxes, wild boars, Mountain goats and mouflons. Biokovo is the habitat of many snakes, the most important of which is the viper as a protected species. The viper is known as the most venomous snake in Europe. But you will witness this biodiversity and geoheritage comfortably seated in Unimog vehicles. Over 1500 plant species grow in the park itself, 40 of which are endemic, and the most famous plant is Biokovsko Zvonce (Biokovo Bell) , which appears at 1400 m above sea level and higher. Excursion Biokovo villages deals with the historical, natural and cultural features of this Dalmatian area. Topics covered will include local points of interest. For example, during the tour of the famous Miletin`s pine, you will simultaneously soak up the story and observe this special black pine that has been standing in solitude for many years. Our adventure ends with a spectacular view of the slopes of vineyards and olive groves. This cultivated land produces top varieties of Plavac Mali and olive oil, which is also characteristic of this region. Experience the
